A Videogame That Simulates Being a Rock

Seriously?! …apparently, yes.

Still in development, Rock Simulator 2014 is currently one of the highest-ranked games on Steam Greenlight, a community-based system that helps select games for distribution.

So what exactly do you do in Rock Simulator 2014? Pretty much what it sounds like: Gaze digitally at silent, immobile stones. Current screenshots indicate that you will be able to “watch beautiful rocks in any location in the world,” including grass plains, salt flats, deserts, and mountains.

If you think that’s a joke, well—it was.

“It started off as a parody,” says Rock Simulator 2014 creator Ryan, who declined to give his last name. “But after seeing the great reaction, it is now a completely serious game.”
