Tom Morello Gets Award for Activism and Interviews with Rolling Stone

by Rachel Baker on October 2, 2014

Alright, so Tom Morello got into a bit of a scuffle while doing some activist work in Seattle, but for the most part, he’s a big time activist and last night, he received the Courage Campaign’s Spirit of Courage Award. The ceremony was held at the House of Blues in West Hollywood; and Rolling Stone was able to sit down with him and get an interview. Fans of Tom Morello through his various evolutions of musical self will be especially interested to know that his next musical direction is going to be “very hard and very funky”.

For those of you who are not really aware of who Tom Morello is, think, the Nightwatchman, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Street Sweeper Social Club, or even the E Street Band. His activism is pretty well documented – The Nation did an article back in 2008 and the most inclusive place I could find was his wikipedia page which has the highlights of his activist work since 1993 and also a great many reference links to read through.
