The Few Times TV has done Stephen King Justice

by Rachel Baker on September 25, 2014

The other day, presumably in honor of Stephen King’s birthday, the NYPost did an article on five tv movies/shows that did Stephen King justice. This list was seriously lacking and in need of some additions.

If you’ve actually read Stephen King, you’d know that maybe one could add It and The Stand to the times tv did it right, but Under the Dome was horrifying, in the sense that fairly close to the beginning it started veering too far from the book.

So, what has TV done well in regards to Stephen King stories? I would say Hearts in Atlantis, the Green Mile, Stand by Me, Misery, Bag of Bones, Christine, Thinner, Dreamcatcher, 1408, The Shawshank Redemption, Secret Window, Dolores Clairborne, and Firestarter. Now if you add ‘based off’ and ‘inspired by’ you should probably include Nightmares and Dreamscapes and Haven (though they seem to have jumped the shark at the end of the last season).
